Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach Pre-K Hearing Impaired Students in Fayetteville, NC at a Year-round school. We are in need of a new water table to go in our Sand & Water Center. My students enjoy playing at the water table, especially on days we can't go outside due to the weather. My students enjoy making small waves, scooping water into their hands and watching it drain through their fingers, as well as watching bubbles form when we add liquid soap. They have played with the one we currently have to the point that it leaks all over the floor. We have tried several ways to plug the leaky holes, and we haven't found a way that works. It constantly drips on the floor and I am afraid that we might slip and fall. I have been forced to close the Water Center for the year in hopes that we will get a new water table for our next school year. Since our school is a year-round school, I plan to talk about the beach in late July when the kids return. The water table will be a great asset to our center when we talk about this theme.
