My Students

The students who take my class are students who don't necessarily love science or even learning. What I try to do each year is to get them out of the classroom and witness the real world implications of what we're talking about in environmental science. Covid has closed those opportunities.

My Project

Exploring the environment is fundamental to environmental science. However, with covid shutting down the option of visiting many places like water treatment facilities, museums, energy plants, aquariums, etc... It becomes hard for my students to see how different processes impact the environment. Having spoken with other biology and environmental science teachers, one option has been to creat an immersive experience where they can visiting, explore and learn about the world around them without actually leaving the classroom. For environmental science, it would allows the students to see the affects of pollution in different countries. For biology, it would allow them to be inside the cells, seeing cellular processes first hand.
