This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Second grade is a huge turning point year for students, and I have the opportunity to help mold these young minds into the leaders they are becoming. Our school strives to build excellence in our scholars, and there is no reason they cannot achieve that.
I have 19 amazing second graders who work together to strive for excellence.
We are in a very low-income school that works hard to provide the best learning experience for our students who sometimes think the world is against them. These scholars are our future, and the sky is the limit for them!
My Project
The students in my classroom love to read different types of books. Their favorite books are graphic novels and Magic Tree House books because they love to see the words come to life as they read! I am always looking for new and different books to give my students a variety in my classroom library.
When students get to choose the books they like during reading, they will continue wanting to read.
Every day my students have the opportunity to read independently for 20 minutes. I do not tell them what to read, but instead, I let them choose whatever book in my library that they want to read. I love for this time to be an opportunity for them to pick a book that will take them to a different world. When they get to choose what they are reading, they are so much more willing and wanting to read.
These books will help contribute to my students' love of reading, and they will be loved for years to come as well!
