Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Pre-K is an exciting experience. My students are 4 years old, and for most, it is their first time away from their parents. They are eager to learn by exploring the centers within the classroom. I have 18 students in total and they come from various backgrounds. Some of my students speak English, but for most, English is their second language. This year they will begin to learn the English language and to communicate with their peers through exciting and enriching centers.

My Project

Art is an extremely vital center for preschoolers. The art easel will allow the students to express themselves without talking, discover colors, strengthen their fine motor skills and create beautiful images! The teacher easel will allow me to model how to write the letters of the alphabet, apply magnetic letters to create​ words, apply numbers for recognition and sorting. Both easels will engage the students in learning and allow them to have a hands on experience in the classroom. I believe it is important for students to come up to the board and share what they have learned for the class. Role-playing is what preschool is all about and they love to show you what they know!!!
