Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During these unprecedented times, my students are saddened to be away from the classroom. Yet learning is not cancelled.

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!

We are actively engaging in different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate in instruction through Google Meets three times a week to go over new material, check in with each other and even explore virtual field trips. In addition, I record lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.

My Project

I believe this project will create excitement about reading and make sure students have books they CAN read and that they are interested in. With these books, my students will have additional opportunities to meet their reading goals. This project will allow students to read books with connections to our curriculum. Furthermore, some of these books promote a growth mindset and kindness among our students. Also, this year I can begin to build my classroom library up so that I can help each of my third-grade students get excited about reading.

Third grade is a defining year for young readers.

Most of my students do not have access to books at home. Having a variety of books in my classroom library will provide each child with the opportunity to find books that they can read and enjoy.
