Help me give my students a subscription to the Scholastic News, earbud headphones, art supplies, dry erase boards, books, and Magna Tiles to further their creative minds.
I teach in a high poverty, suburban area where more than half of my class are eligible for free/reduced-price lunch. Despite their circumstances, my students are hardworking and caring individuals who come to school eager to learn about the world around them.
COVID has severely impacted my students' learning over the past year and a half.
The abrupt end of the school year in 2020, to the inconsistency of learning online and in person has definitely effected my students' progress to meet the current grade level standards. With your support, my students can bridge the gap in their education to continue their path on becoming college and career ready.
My Project
Having a Scholastic News subscription will benefit my students’ exposure to reading informational text (Standard RI.2.1, RI.2.2, RI.2.3). The Scholastic News provides short articles at their reading level on current events. Students will be able to use the earbuds to listen to the articles on their iPads. By purchasing the dry erase boards, students can practice working with words by reviewing skills they have learned in class. As we continue to teach during these uncertain times, students will be able to access the Scholastic News at home and can share what they are learning with family members.
Donating to my project will help students explore, create, and get excited about learning.
Being so isolated and influenced by social media, I want my students to be able to express themselves through visual arts and science. Students will be able to create masterpieces on their own canvas (Standard MA: Cn10.2.1, MA:Cn10.2.2, MA:Cn11.2.1) or be able to build a city using the Magna Tiles. The options are countless.
By providing my students with the Scholastic News, earbuds, dry erase boards, Magna Tiles, books and art supplies, you will help my students continue their education in the classroom during these unprecedented times in our lives.
