Exploring The World Of Science

My students need 6 Twister Tubes, 10 student thermometers, 8 petri dishes, pre-fab specimen slides, 400 pH strips, anatomy models, and 80 posters for science class.

My Students

We want to explore the world through hands-on experiments and in order to do so, we need a few things! We can use our imagination, but there is an old Chinese saying..."I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, but I do and I understand!" My students will be able to understand when engaged!

I teach the 6th grade.

My students come from various backgrounds. Their school is comprised of mostly free and reduced-price lunch students. Some of our students do not have basic personal items for themselves, and we work as a team to provide for these students. They are sweet and respectful students, but need to be shown love from their role models at school. They attend an elementary/junior high school that is made up of K-8th grade students. Our students struggle with getting supplies for everyday use and we struggle to provide manipulatives in the teaching of concepts, due to a very limited budget.

My Project

I plan to use these items (prepared slides and poster board) in various science experiments that will allow the students to actually participate in the project, rather than just looking at pictures of a similar project. Students will be able to test the pH of their drinking water at school using the Learning Resources pH Paper. They will be able to create and understand a tornado using a bottle and twister tubes.

Students need the chance to work independently with hands-on experiments.

There is so much that the imagination can provide, but to see their eyes widen when they do it themselves... PRICELESS.
