My Project

A subscription to Scholastic News Magazine for our 3rd grade students will provide a weekly, authentic learning experience.

The magazine articles will allow students to explore, discuss, and meaningfully construct concepts and relationships in contexts that involve real-world current events, and exciting news that are relevant to our young learners.

Each issue will provide a reading experience which will build language arts skills, increase their science and social studies knowledge, and will allow our students to explore a vast array of topics across subject areas.

Nonfiction text develops and extends vocabulary, enables students to activate prior knowledge, and build a repertoire of background information. Students are able to apply skills, such as using text features to receive more information about the text.

A main goal of third grade teachers is to encourage students to see text as a vehicle for understanding the world around them, as well as finding information to learn. Scholastic News is our #1 resource to provide this opportunity for all of our students!
