My Project
In our middle school Makerspace, I want students to have the opportunity to explore the wonders of sustainable creation through upcycling. Upcycling transforms waste materials or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or environmental value. Our Makerspace encourages students to think creatively and repurpose items that might otherwise end up in landfill.
Students learn about sustainable practices and how to reduce their environmental impact by turning discarded materials into something useful and beautiful.
Students will use the paper maker to create paper with recycled paper. We will use the stapler to make books with the paper they create. Through upcycling, students are not only able to express their creativity but also learn important lessons about environmental responsibility and conservation. The Makerspace provides a safe and collaborative environment where students can experiment with materials and ideas, develop problem-solving skills, and showcase their upcycled creations.
