My Students
Our school theme is "Welcome Home, Where Every Student Counts." Continuing this theme in my classroom is extremely important due to the fact that we are receiving an abundance of children who have been displaced from Puerto Rico because their homes were destroyed. Many are coming without parents and are living with relatives. They speak little or no English. Homes are crowded, and the situations in the homes are difficult.
We are a Title I school and 100% of our students are on free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Technology is lacking due to the increase of students from Puerto Rico who had been displaced by Hurricane Maria. We do not have the funding to provide additional computers for these students.
With the use of additional laptops in my classroom, students will be able to have more time in the classroom for researching the internet for various projects, practicing on the available website the county provides and having the ability to do a number of other activities that we require.
Students will have smiles on their faces knowing that the work we are requiring them to do will be easily accessible from the classroom and not having to worry about working on them at home.
