My students need individual tablets during reading/ writing small group lessons. We will use tablet apps as opposed to completing the activity on a paper version of a graphic organizer.

My Students
My students come from various backgrounds and are on different instructional levels. They are curious and creative. We are currently working on improving their reading and writing skills. I am currently providing an opportunity for my students to learn and practice essential social, emotional and problem-solving skills that they will continue to use in the the years ahead. During Reading and Writing instructional small groups, the students will be able use the apps to edit spelling, punctuation, organization, and capitalization.
My Project
The students will read a nonfiction article and then work in small groups to create a visual diagram with apps to represent the main events in sequence, connecting them with time-order words. Groups share their products with the whole class at the end of the lesson. Students will use individual tablets during reading comprehension and writing groups. Students will each use an online app organizer tool that allows the user to add boxes to a blank canvas to organize ideas any way they choose.
When using the tablets, the app will allow students to change the size, color, and order of the boxes to represent their ideas in multiple ways.
In the reading/writing app, the student can create images. Also, type-written or hand-written text can be added to individual boxes.
