My Students

The students in our rooms are the leaders of our school! Creative and caring, funny and kind - they are as brilliant as they are strong, and we are about to embark on their capstone year at our school together!

One of the things we are focusing on this year is equipping ourselves to become informed, actively engaged citizens - working to build a better world.

With curriculum and projects focusing on human and civil rights, immigration, and environmental issues like climate change and the impact of natural disasters, we are encouraging our 5th graders to think globally, but begin by acting locally.

My Project

Our social justice curriculum is grounded in rich stories that help us explore the experiences of many individuals and groups, both currently and throughout history. Our class book sets serve as the foundation for our studies, allowing us to build skills, practice discussion, and grapple with real, relevant global issues while also engaging with powerful human stories.

Because we sent many of our classroom resources home with students when we moved to remote learning, in the spring, we need to replace and replenish many of these resources for our coming students.

Without knowing how school will look this year, we are simply doing our best to prepare for all the many scenarios that could play out. Regardless of where we are learning in September, these books will serve many classes of students in wide variety of capacities for years to come!
