Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Rain or shine, my students make their way to school each day to practice the skills needed to succeed in our ever-changing world.

My diverse batch of kindergarten scholars is part of an ICT, or Integrated Co-Teaching, class in a NYC public school.

We are part of a high poverty, multi-cultural community in the South Bronx.

The majority of our student population comes from low-income families and/or temporary housing. Despite some of their challenges, these students come to school daily with smiles on their faces, eager to learn the various lessons that await them, but they need additional resources and educational experiences to enhance their learning.

My Project

Kindergarten is a great time for young learners to explore and engage in various hands-on learning experiences that can encourage peer-to-peer discussions. Field trips help to enhance and support what we are learning in the classroom. Unfortunately, many of our students' families cannot afford the admission fees that accrue from trying to provide these learning experiences.

Your contribution to this project would greatly help to provide the opportunity for each kindergarten student to attend and participate in hands-on exhibits where they would also be able to explore the Science Playground at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NY.
