Ms. Joy and I have an engaged and enthusiastic group of learners that love to make connections between subject areas, particularly in maps and geography!
In our mixed-grades classroom, there are many students who are just emerging into the world of reading, including English Language Learners and children with divergent needs.
They need a more scientific and systematic way to approach their understanding and skill building of the patterns found in the English language.
This material is a beautiful and organized work that attracts the children to work on phonetic reading skills by recognizing patterns in the English language, then build sentences, and then find joy in reading whole books! This material not only fits well into a Montessori self-directed (with supports!) classroom, but also is supported by recent research and educational discussion about the Science of Reading.
