Help me give my students more opportunities to explore the themes from our units of study at their reading level.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a mix of every race, religion, culture, family type, income, learning type, interests, and strengths and weaknesses. The one thing they all have in common is their love for sports, their competitive nature and the way they strive for excellence in all that they do.
Our school has more than 5 different native languages and is about 20% refugee and immigrant populations.
Over 98% of our students' family incomes qualify them for free school lunches and all students get free breakfast in the classroom each morning.
My Project
Each unit in our reading textbook has an overall theme and question we are trying to answer. For example, "Is technology helpful or harmful?" Or "How can people and animals relate?"
I want the students to expand their knowledge and understanding of these topics through independent reading books, at their appropriate reading level.
These books will allow more options for interesting books at their level.
At the end of the unit we have a Socratic seminar discussion about all the things we learned. With these books, every student will be able to bring more information to the discussion to help us all better understand.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
