My Project

Besides learning ABC and 123, my students learn a vital life skill: understanding their feelings.  These hands-on manipulative games will be a fun way for them to learn different feelings, which will lead to a discussion on when or why we have those feelings, especially for my students from a stressful and sometimes traumatic family life.  The children will have a reference to attach the emotions their experiencing by having explored these excellent learning tools.  The emotional roller/tactile dough roller, stones, and domino game provide them to learn concretely.  As we know, emotion is an abstract concept, but they can create and play with each other and learn to talk about it with each other.  They'll learn through these tools to have the words to articulate their feelings with their peers and teachers in an appropriate manner.  They'll take this skill with them wherever they go.
