This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my school range from all learning groups, and cultural backgrounds. We have a broad range of abilities in our school, from high academic achievement to physical and mental disabilities. We have students from all walks of life, and we love to teach all of them.
These students are wonderful, active, creative, and curious, with a great love of music.
They love to sing, and dance, and play instruments. Many of our students seek out musical opportunities outside of the music class, which is fabulous. It is always a treat to be able to teach them everyday.
My Project
In a music classroom, every diverse opportunity is a way to learn. Space, time, and versatility of instruments are essential to a productive and successful program. Bucket drumming fits all of these requirements. Easy to move and store, bucket drums are a great way to explore multiple types of music, including cultural genres.
With bucket drumming the student are able to explore music in a way that shows that music is available to them no matter their financial status.
They will learn how to play in groups, working on cooperation skills, as well as create music for themselves. It is a great instrument to have in any music classroom!
