My students need hands-on science tools to help them explore the fun world of science. These balance scales, beakers, and thermometers will allow them to have that experience while we learn about measurement.

My Students
My school services students of varied ethnicity, with over 70% accepting free/reduced lunch. We have many students being raised by grandparents, or single parents, with limited technology at home. Many come to school with limited supplies. I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read, and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to become lifelong learners who value and enjoy school.
My Project
My students love to explore and learn through hands on experiences. In third grade our school finds many students fall behind in their measurement and data skills. Having these materials will allow my students to have the hands on experiences they need to truly learn and understand how to measure mass, capacity and temperature.
They love to try things out, use the materials, and immerse themselves in the fun of science.
They enjoy finding new ways to test their hypothesis. Allowing each group the time to continue to learn through several hands on trials will be invaluable.
