This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As my students grow and change so does everything around them. Can you imagine watching a seed grow and complete the life cycle right before your eyes? This is a chance for my students to do just that!

My second grade students are bright and curious about the world around them.

They come to school ready to learn and always try their best. Many of the students in my class come from Spanish speaking homes. Often times these students experience some difficulty during the lesson because of limited vocabulary. I try to bring in real objects or photographs to improve their understanding of the vocabulary and make their learning experience more meaningful.

My Project

The greenhouses will give each student the opportunity to plant, water and care for their own plant. Students will be able to make predictions and record their observations. The life cycle books and kits will give students a better understanding of how plants and animals develop as they explore three dimensional replicas of frogs and butterflies. Reading books about the life cycle will expose them to the process from beginning to end in a sequential pattern. They will also get a better understanding of how the environment effects plant and animal growth.
