This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Right in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, I teach a great group of 5th grade scholars who are eager and excited to learn new tasks inside and outside the classroom.
Despite being an underprivileged school, my students are hardworking and persevere through every obstacle they face in the real world society.
This group of students reminds me why I chose this profession and they are a part of my life, just like they are my own! I cannot imagine choosing any other profession in my life!
My Project
To enhance my students' learning, I would like to implement a document camera into our classroom. One way to increase students' enthusiasm for their school work and provide them with an interactive learning experience is through the use of a document camera. As a math teacher, this camera will help me to display and easily model using manipulatives. With the modeling being projected on the board, I will be able to ensure my students have a visual understanding of what needs to be done. Also, the camera will make going over homework and classwork fun and interactive. I would be able to not only explain to students how to work a problem, but show them interactively!
