This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to present an educational project aimed at my elementary school students, focused on exploring aquatic food chains involving fish, shrimp, and snails. Through hands-on learning experiences, our project aims to instill environmental awareness, promote STEM education, highlight biodiversity, and encourage curiosity and exploration.

This is an important project for several reasons:

Environmental Awareness: Teaching children about aquatic food chains fosters a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Understanding how organisms depend on each other for survival helps students appreciate the delicate balance of nature and the importance of preserving it. They will be able to see and experience how the food chain works, rather than just read about it.

STEM Education: This project provides an engaging platform for students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts. We will explore ecosystems, work on solving problems and work on solutions for them (regarding or ecosystem) and do mathematical measurements involving the biology within the ecosystem.

Promoting Biodiversity: Focusing on fish, shrimp, and snails highlights the diversity of life within aquatic environments. Students learn about the different roles these organisms play in the ecosystem and how disturbances to one part of the food chain can affect the entire ecosystem.

Encouraging Curiosity and Exploration: Interactive lessons and hands-on activities encourage students to ask questions, make observations, and explore the natural world around them. This fosters curiosity and sparks a lifelong interest in science and nature.
