My students need scientific models and tools like a telescope and solar system set to provide increased hands-on instruction opportunities.

My Students

My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. We are considered a rural school. Many of my students have parents who are either in the Army or Air Force and live on the local Air Force base, while the rest live in the surrounding community.

Many of my students enjoy hands-on learning and are technology savvy, but our school does not have the funds to provide the materials that are vital for increased learning.

I would like to give them the opportunity to do activities that would better combine these two traits.

My Project

As my students like hands-on activities, I believe these models and tools will aid greatly in their study of earth and space science. The cross section model of the earth's interior will provide a three dimensional view of the layers of the earth and will allow students to gain a better understanding of what lies below the crust. The Astron telescopes and the Giant Inflatable Solar System model will allow them to explore objects in space and better understand astronomy and earth's place in the universe. It is important for them to see for themselves what they read about in their textbooks.
