My Project

I will be moving into a new grade level next year where I will have the opportunity to use The Hunger Games in my "dystopian literature" unit. We will read the first book a class, but every year I have students who wish to continue the series or who have already read the first book and would like to begin the second during class. I would love the opportunity to give them copies fo the other books in the series.

This is a series that consistently sparks a love of reading in even the most reluctant readers.

Every year that I've used The Hunger Games in my classroom, it has engaged students who are usually distractable and off task. This novel is rich with symbolism, thematic connections, and real world topics that spark enriching conversations in class. Katniss is a narrator that students can empathize with and are rooting for from the first page.

Adding more copies of this series to my classroom will only help my dystopian literature unit grow as students are able to continue a series they love.
