This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The motto at our school is “Supporting Student Strengths with Passion, Purpose, and Professionalism.” This project focuses on fostering students’ strengths by making sure they can access their curriculum during distance learning in a fun and unique way by incorporating materials that can be adapted! Many of the Special Education students I work with come from limited resources and have behavioral, medical, and academic needs. Some of the students live in a group or foster homes, and it can be a challenge to find motivating activities that will engage them.
My visually impaired students would love to utilize the materials from the Exploring Money Kit, so they can practice real world communication skills!

My Project
The Exploring Money Financial Literacy Kit will be such a wonderful way for my visually impaired students to practice their social communication skills through play. The Power Pen will provide auditory feedback to students, so they can be independent in their leaning. The corresponding quiz cards, can be outlined with hot glue, so my students have a tactile boundary to indicate where their pen goes to check their work.
The allowance game will provide so many communication opportunities and real word financial opportunities learning skills.
The paper money and coins will allow students to practice folding money in order to indicate the value. The additional materials will help with storing all the manipulatives, so they can be easily accessed.
