Exploring Chinese Culture in the Physical Education Classroom
Help me give my students the opportunity to explore two popular Chinese sports: Jianzi and Badminton. Students will learn about the Chinese culture as we add these sports to our physical education curriculum.
My students are on a mission to become physically and mentally fit. They enjoy being active in the gym, weight room and outdoors.
They come to school each day ready to try new things and excited about the benefits of being physically active.
Each student in my class approaches physical education from a different perspective. Some are athletes who are up for any challenge. Others have not participated in a team sport, but are excited to join a team. Some are nervous and unsure of themselves.
This project will allow my students to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. The implementation of these two new activities will give each student a reason to get excited about physical fitness!
My Project
After traveling to China this summer, I am excited to bring back two popular Chinese sports to my physical education classroom. Students will discover the benefits of participating in both Jianzi and Badminton activities.
This project will stock the gym with rackets, traditional shuttlecocks and Jianzi shuttlecocks.
Adding these sports to our physical education curriculum will help to promote physical fitness. Both activities are known for helping to reduce stress and anxiety and will make a difference in the lives of each middle school student.
Thank you for giving my students the gift of physical and mental fitness. Both are necessary for the success of students in the middle school setting.
