Exploring Chemistry with Infrared, Prisms, and Spectroscopes!
Help me give my students a thermal infrared camera, 12 prisms, and 20 spectroscopes to explore the properties of light in chemistry class!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will give my chemistry students the opportunity to engage with abstract ideas in a more tangible way, making learning both fun and meaningful. With tools like prisms, spectroscopes, and a thermal infrared camera, they’ll be able to dive deep into the world of light and energy in ways that traditional lessons simply cannot achieve.
These specific resources will help bring abstract scientific concepts to life for my students.
The thermal infrared camera will allow them to visualize invisible light, heat, and energy transfer, which can be difficult to grasp without real-world applications. They will use the prisms to study how light bends and separates into different wavelengths, reinforcing their understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum. The spectroscopes will give them a firsthand look at how different materials emit light, helping them better understand chemical composition and emission spectra. This hands-on learning approach is crucial to developing their problem-solving skills and sparking a passion for scientific inquiry!
