My Project

I work at a Title I school with the sweetest and most deserving special education students who struggle to articulate, understand learning and directives and to communicate their basic wants and needs. Their day at school is long, hard and often they lack the environmental knowledge and context to truly understand what is being introduced to them. These materials will provide them with a captivating and fun way to learn new vocabulary, strategies for comprehension and opportunities to practice sounds. The excitement and learning will follow them throughout their day and give some of these students opportunities to experience adventures they might not otherwise get to partake in. The books will allow me to teach specific vocabulary using research based methods and model complete and grammatically correct sentences. I intend to write target sounds/words on stars and students will use flashlights to find their sounds/words and articulate them around a pretend campfire. I have wiggly bodies and the rug will give us an identified safe space to learn and grow together!
