My Students

My school is considered to be high poverty with many at risk students. A high percentage of our students receive free or reduced price lunches. I have three students with special learning needs. Ten out of twenty of my students receive Title I services to help them become stronger, more successful readers. Many of my students come to school to be loved.

Students in my classroom have a lot of energy.

They spend a lot of time outside of school playing behind electronics instead of using their fine motor skills. I want to give my students the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills through play at school.

My Project

When my students arrive at school they are excited to start their day. It takes a while for them to transition to be ready to learn, so I have incorporated morning tubs that encourage my students to play.

The morning tubs are filled with many different activities that allow students to strengthen fine motor skills, work on problem solving, and increase social interactions.

My students are bored with our current tubs that consist of playdough, math manipulatives, and coloring sheets. So I have asked for a variety of different building manipulatives that will allow my students to create their own unique designs. Some of the manipulatives I have requested include Playstix, Zoobs, Beads and string, Nuts and Bolts, Waffle Blocks, and various different types of builders. My students will be so excited to have a variety of different building materials.

These word beads, pipe builders, zoob building set and more manipulatives will bring so much more to our current morning tubs. They will help increase student creativity while allowing them to socialize with friends. Please help my students get more exciting, hands-on, morning tubs!
