My Students

Have you ever seen the look on a child's face as they explore the Internet and find something interesting? I have in the computer lab, but I would like to see it in my classroom.

I am a lucky teacher at a school for children with disabilities.

We have about 170 students total. I have 14 students and they are either 18 or 19 years old. We emphasize health and nutrition because of the prevalence of obesity among our population of students. This school year we have started even more programs to enhance their health. We are sampling produce every month and they have corresponding curriculum. They ride horses weekly on our campus, and have just started swimming again. We promote dental health and teach them how to handle stress and emotions. They soak up everything we teach them and want more. They are a joy to work with and teach me as much as I teach them.

My Project

A laptop computer will provide me with an easy way to reach all of my student's technological needs at one time. We can do many projects and explore the world as a class. We will no longer have to crowd around my desktop to see interesting pictures of something we are studying. I can use the projector I just received from another project, and we will be free to Google anything we want. The students will be able to sit comfortably in their chairs and look at the board to see what I am doing. They will be able to actively participate in lessons and learn how to use the computer, because they will be watching what I do and taking turns on it as well.

I am eagerly awaiting this project to be funded.

I already got my projector, and now to complete the set, I need a laptop. I will be forever grateful for your generous donation and look forward to sending you a thank you note!
