This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
100% of the students impacted by this project are economically disadvantaged. These students lack the background knowledge needed for academic growth across the curriculum. Most of these students rarely travel beyond a 60-mile radius from their homes.
This project will provide Kindergarten students in three different classes at TJE with guided reading level packets.
Each class will receive a classroom set of books with stories that have colorful pictures to help them read and make connections to the world, and themselves. The books will help teachers create lessons filled with exploration, and games to develop the reading skills they will need for years to come.
This project will provide Kindergarten students in four different classes at TJE with guided reading level books to share. Each class will receive a classroom set of books with stories that have colorful pictures to help them read and make connections to the world, and themselves.
These books will help teachers create lessons filled with exploration, and games to develop the reading skills they will need for years to come.
Each book can be used to create lessons full of fun learning (Like insects, Music, character building, or Food) this allows students to make connections and explore the world around them through reading. This curriculum based learning will be used to develop Steven Covey’s 7 habits of leadership within the students while they learn about the world, developing citizenship, animals and beyond.
While reading the teacher will enable the students to begin with the end in mind by meeting their classroom goals through positive choices, helping others, understanding different cultures, learning about good choice, and sharing what they learned with others through the use of technology. The project will inspire students to want to reading while learning different genres, while exploring and researching different topics.
