Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are underprivileged inner-city youth who face many life challenges. I love my student's energy, will to learn, inquisitiveness and spark. They teach me about their cultures and their community. They are special because they are adventurers. They thrive to learn academics while some simultaneously ern a second language. They shine greatly as they share their customs, cultures, food, and diversity.

In my science classroom, they are thoughtful, creative, and inquisitive

They absolutely love hands-on, active, inquiry-based, engaging projects that challenge them and at the same time make them think outside the box to find solutions in the real world. They come to school every day with a big smile and are ready to learn something new. They are my inspiration!

My Project

My students will be learning about asteroid apophysis and exploring the earth's composition and moon's phases this year.

A telescope will enable my students to explore galaxies and appreciate the different phases of the moon and the solar system.

A functional telescope will bring curosity and added interest in the upcoming unit. Our school has a planetarium and an observatory but they are not functional at this moment. Students will benefit from this project tremendously as they will get the opportunity to explore what I will be teaching by looking at the space with their own eyes.
