My Project

Students in our Special Education classrooms will greatly benefit from this project, as well as students receiving counseling services and who are interested in mentoring younger students and honing skills in natural sciences.

Items in this order will contribute to a custom horticultural therapy program that focuses on inclusion, to engage students with learning disabilities in modified STEM-inspired lessons.

The garden is used not only for academic lessons in science and math, but can be decorated for story time, imagination, exploring the natural environment with bugs, plants, soil, and the resident school bunny! The greenhouse, grow lights, and heat pads will contribute to our seedling starts. The gloves and clippers will be for students to participate in garden maintenance, the bug kit for creating habitats, and the microscope for exploring and sparking curiosity for the micro world.

One of the biggest components of this project are the National Geographic digging kits. These will be great for improving fine motor sills for students with occupational therapy goals, and to create wonder of the beautiful and interesting things that geography, geology, paleontology, biology, microbiology, and chemistry can bring!

This project will greatly enhance our K-5 Special Education classroom with highly impacted students. We are a Title I school with most families receiving free or reduced lunch, over 90% BIPOC students, and many low-income families. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
