My students need STEM and coding materials such as Tinker Toys, ZOOB builders, Squigz, The Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar, and the Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set to foster and promote their creativity and problem solving skills.
My first graders are an inclusive and diverse group of fun, curious, and enthusiastic learners. Many of my students face challenges that make learning difficult, despite these challenges, each of them looks forward to coming to school and learning new things every day!
Our elementary school is located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Boston.
My students represent a wonderful melting pot of languages, cultures, and abilities. By donating you will be helping them learn and grow in an environment that will inspire life-long learning!
My Project
Quality STEM learning is becoming increasingly important for our young students in order to build a beginning knowledge base, boost student interest, and inspire future learning.
Not only is this new STEM focus necessary, it is both engaging and fun for our young learners.
Last year I started using STEM bins with my first graders. These bins are an amazing addition to my classroom allowing my students to apply different STEM concepts while using their creativity, problem solving skills, and imagination. Tinker Toys, ZOOB builders, Squigz and other STEM materials will be a welcome addition to these STEM bins.
The Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar, the Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set and the coding games will provide students with hands-on ways to further explore the skill of coding. These early learning coding sets require the students to work collaboratively and to use critical thinking skills in order to navigate successfully.
Giving students a way to learn in a hands-on, creative, inquiry based environment gives them the opportunity to be and feel successful. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science/math literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. It is clear that most jobs of the future will require a basic understanding of math and science. STEM education promotes 21st century learning.
