I teach 3 third grade classes in a public school setting in Virginia. The population of students in my classroom varies. Some students live on a local ski resort. Other students live in lower income housing. The students at our school are like a close knit family. We love learning and growing together every day.
Students learn by choice and exploring!
In my classroom, I love to give students opportunities to discover new things. With this project, students will have many resources available to get their wheels turning.
My Project
Traditionally in the past, I have given spiral review worksheets as starter activities when students enter the classroom at the beginning of each class period.
This year I want to give students more opportunities to explore!
My students need materials to build, play and create new things. This project will help my students get their STEAM brains going at the start of each school day! My goal is to have "exploration tubs" instead of morning work this year with the funding of this project. The different items will be placed in different tubs and each table group will have a different tub each day.
As our class starter they can build things out of craft sticks with velcro, figure out magnets, make creations with flakes, create patterns with the pattern blocks, get creative with legos, and more!
