My Students
My 6th grade students love to learn by actively engaging with ideas and knowledge. They are 21st century thinkers who identify problems, conduct research, carry out experiments, analyze outcomes and reflect on their results and learning. We have built towers, designed insulating devices and conducted experiments connected to our math curriculum.
Our class grows by leaps and bounds as students are given the freedom to think creatively about what we are learning.
Parents and students are asking for more hands-on problem solving activities. I couldn't agree more. The connections students are able to make between content areas strengthens their grasp of multiple subjects at once.
My Project
Having these math and science games and resources will give my students much needed practice with concepts and logic. Even better, by using games and fun activities, I can reach even the most reluctant learner and help propel them forward for the rest of their education and beyond. Often, my students get caught up in games and activities, and when reflecting on their time later, classmates will share with each other ah-ha moments that they have had, because they have pushed themselves to think further than they would otherwise. These resources will help to provide more of these opportunities for them.
