I have a classroom full of energetic 5th graders who are excited to learn. My classroom is very diverse with learners from all backgrounds, abilities, and interests. My school is located in a small town that has recently experienced a huge oil boom, causing our school to almost be at max capacity, and our resources to be strained. Providing students with engaging hands on activities can often be very difficult due to limited materials and budget restraints. My students are inquisitive and eager to learn. They deserve the opportunity to have engaging and challenging learning opportunities.
My Project
Malcom X once said, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Science is part of our core curriculum and becomes much more engaging when the activities can be hands-on. Our school lacks the necessary materials to do these types of activities.
My students have a strong desire to learn and explore scientific concepts.
The Real-World STEM Challenge kits will provide students with an opportunity to work through the engineering process and design solutions to real world problems. I want to foster a spirit of inquiry and allow my students to become the leaders of tomorrow.
