My students live a very rural area and many don't travel much. My students have a wide range of reading abilities. They love to share books with others and read together.
The looks on their faces when I am reading aloud to them fills my teacher's heart.
Even my toughest kiddos love our read-aloud time.
Our school community believes in inspiring children to love to read and be life-long learners. I really believe in the importance of reading aloud every day.
My Project
One of my goals is to teach my students to picture a story in their mind, like a movie, to aid their comprehension. Having strong mentor texts will allow me to share books that tie in with the skills we teach and expose students to new ideas.
Knowing first-hand how books have such a positive impact on children has made a positive impact on my teaching.
My dream is to build up my classroom library of picture and chapter books. I want encourage my students by creating relationships between them and books so they enjoy the life-long love of reading.
