Experiencing the World in Our Classroom

My Students

I have a group of hard workers. They play hard. They make good choices. We all work together as a family to achieve the goals that we set at the beginning of the year.

My students come from low-income families.

There are several things that my students will only see or touch in our classroom. Every child deserves to enjoy their classroom experience. I work hard to make sure that there are several choices available for their learning.

My Project

There are places that my student will never go. There are places that my students will never see. There are experiences that my students will never take part in. Technology has now found a way to put my students into these places and experiences and it is my wish to provide this experience.

We pull from our experiences when we are called to read and write.

I am requesting two Oculus Virtual Reality Headsets with carrying cases. With the technology I am requesting for this project, my students can visit and experience places that they will most likely never see. It is difficult for many of my families to experience the world and all that it has to offer. In addition, COVID has halted much of the simple field trip experiences. The technology I am requesting will put my students in an atmosphere where they will feel like there are actually experiencing various locations.

Allowing my students to experience the culture that our world has to offer will support their reading and writing. Though they will not physically be in these places, the three-dimensional environment created puts them as close as possible. It is far easier for my students to create rich literature and enjoy the same when they have these experiences firsthand.
