This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each of the four kindergarten classes will get a caterpillar sand box on our kindergarten playground. Currently, our playground is very small and consists just of wood chips. Students are not able to dig in sand and pretend to build sand castles. The last few weeks of school we are planning a beach unit and reading the book "A Day at the Beach". We thought it would be a great experience for students to actually feel sand. This sand will be fresh and clean and it will be covered every night for protection from the elements and any critters. These caterpillar sand boxes are perfect for helping our students experience the beach when they live over 200 miles away.
