My Students
My classroom is a place where students from many different backgrounds are able to come together to form an amazing classroom community. We work hard together, challenge each other, solve problems together, and show our support to those around us as we strive to grow both academically and as individuals.
By providing hands on experiences and opportunities to solve real life problems, our classroom is not only full of rigor, but it also encourages students to take ownership of what we are learning.
Students are excited to come to class to see what new project or problem we are tackling that day and can't wait to see what a new day will bring.
My Project
Hands on learning is a must for my students during our STEM rotation. Many concepts that I teach can only be explained so much. At some point a student needs to see and experience them for his or herself to truly understand them.
By donating to our project you will be giving students a way to build, create, and experience concepts in physics rather than just hearing about the concepts.
Building roller coasters, block towers, and Rube Goldberg machines will give students a first hand look at how kinetic and potential energy work together. By exploring through building and other activities students will discover how to increase the kinetic energy an object has and use equations we write during math to discover its velocity. We will observe different energy transfers and see that, while it might change form, energy cannot be created or destroyed. The materials in this project are perfect for testing and investigating Newton's Laws of Motion in a fun and engaging way.
Giving students hands on experiences they are excited to use will literally put the learning in their hands as they create and explore concepts in physics.
