My kids are seventh and eighth grade students from a farming community in the Midwest. They are creative, talented, hardworking kids with a work ethic that goes far beyond the classroom. This strong work ethic is embedded in their daily lives from a young age.
My students thrive on real-life experiences that show how learning is relevant to their future career path, whether they choose to work in agriculture, retail, education or engineering!
As with all classrooms, not everyone learns at the same pace or in the same way.
The Outbreak Alert: Engineering a Pandemic Response kit gives students the chance to explore how to prepare for outbreaks of contagious diseases. According to AKJ Education, this kit allows students to "become biomedical engineers as they explore how to prepare for outbreaks of highly contagious diseases. They will use the Engineering Design Process to design an antiviral to stop a newly discovered virus from infecting a model cell."
My kids LOVE hands-on activities that allow them to experience real life!
Giving them the opportunity to work with this kit will give them a view into the life of an engineer with a biomedical focus. It opens up the door to exploring new opportunities and ideas.
