This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are the product of a year long lockdown. They entered first grade pre-emergent readers, lacking social skills. and very little number sense. I'm proud to say they worked hard and came to schools prepared to learn and focus. The majority of the class are now reading and are socially age appropriate. They still have a long road ahead to make up for the time lost but they are eager to learn.
It's important to offer your students choice, they chose how they want to learn and what tools they need to complete a task.
Using games to teach phonics makes it fun and engaging. Learning correct formation of numbers and letters by using sandpaper letters helps them do just that.
We use google slides so having a slide changer is a quick way to move to the next slide and not interrupt learning.
