This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my classroom, I expect my students to give it their best at all times. My students not only rise to that challenge everyday but they are hardworking, dedicated, driven and passionate when it comes to reading. Our school is dedicated to prepping them academically not only for today, but as well as prepare them for high school, college and beyond.
As a reading teacher, I understand the need for vocabulary to comprehend the passages that are given to them during the state standardized test, but in everyday situations as well.
My students devour the stories I provide in class and become interested in a particular author or genre of reading. I am beyond proud of all my students and would like to continue to provide them with the best resources possible to continue to expand their knowledge on the journey of learning.
My Project
In a reading classroom, it is imperative that the students constantly expand their vocabulary. This can often be a challenge. By using the Wordly Wise books, not only are students exposed to new vocabulary but they are given various activities to practice using the words. Keeping activities exciting and varied will allow my students to expand their vocabulary without even realizing they are learning vocabulary!
The usage of Wordly Wise will not only engage the students more but it will also encourage them to work on it independently and frequently.
This will boost their confidence in reading, expand their knowledge and ignite a passion for reading and writing.
