My Students
The students in my chorus program are builders of community . Our school is one of the most diverse schools in our area, with a very wide range of economic and ethnic backgrounds. They are accepting and welcoming to all. Everyone has a home in our chorus family!
The students in our choirs work far above and beyond what is required of similar students to bring music to life for our community.
Each of them spends significant time outside the classroom to be adequately prepared for our exciting performances. They are shining examples of what high school students can achieve when they are challenged!
My Project
A few years ago, the Florida Vocal Association expanded its annual Music Performance Assessments to include a new Musical Theatre/Jazz category. We have had a lot of interest from students in this category, which is logical, because the music is so much fun!
We will use the Singer's Musical Theatre Anthologies to broaden the literature options for singers, giving them a better chance to choose a song that highlights their strengths while challenging them to grow.
We have been slowly purchasing new books, and this project will help us to quickly catch our library up!
Using these materials in this category, we will be able to attract a wider base of students to take part in our program, which offers a very wide variety of musical experiences. Students will benefit greatly!
