My Students

I have 32 amazing fourth grade students.

They are inquisitive, spontaneous and always wanting to try something new.

Our Illinois school is Title I, with 63% of students coming from low income families, and 16% being English Language Learners. More than half of my students are below grade level in reading. Many students struggle with focusing on assignments and working in the classroom. This year my teammate and I are introducing a new reading curriculum and structure. With the new structure comes a need for additional materials. I cannot wait to see the success rate of my students skyrocket after implementing these materials in the classroom!

My Project

This year I am excited to introduce a new Reading/Writing structure to my 4th grade students. We will be implementing a reading workshop model in our classroom. With the new model comes a new way of spending quality class time. While I am meeting with individual students and small groups the remaining students in the classroom will have the amazing opportunity for independent reading time!

During this time students are able to sit in different locations throughout the room to foster a sense of choice and comfort while reading.

These five Hokki Wobble Stools are a favorite seating option of my students while reading. The only downside is, I don't have enough for everyone! With these additional Wobble Stools I'm hoping to engage and excite even more life long readers.
