Every child deserves an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment where they feel secure and happy. My students struggle with sensory and communication issues and need an environment and tools that can help them receive that opportunity.
My classroom is built for students who struggle within the regular education setting.
These students need an environment with fewer stimulation, greater teacher to student attention, and more technology integration. These students are amazingly intelligent and capable young people who are often overlooked or ignored because they lack proper communication skills. It is truly a pleasure to take a child who others struggle to reach and help them open themselves up to the world around them academically and socially.
My Project
There are so many amazing apps on an iPad, from reading resources which allow my slower readers to be read aloud to while viewing the words on a screen, to math games which the students are intrigued by and remain engaged with. The iPad also allows me to progress monitor and asses students to ensure they are receiving the best academic support possible within the classroom.
I want my students to have a fighting chance.
Many do not believe my students are capable of success, but I have had the privilege of watching them grow and open up to the world around them. To see my students connecting and to know that they are receiving the tools necessary to be a successful part of their world is all the reason I need to ask for resources that I believe will make them stronger.
