I teach the most amazing, energetic, eager to learn bunch of third graders. They come to school daily with positive attitudes and the willingness to try.
My students are a group of individuals who love school and do their best every day.
They are a diverse group of kids in many ways, including culture and ability. I am so fortunate to teach these amazing kids in Philadelphia; however we live in a large city, and attend a poorly funded school district.
My Project
Thanks to another project, my classroom has the beginnings of a well-stocked leveled library. The majority of the books though are for kids who read on or above grade level. Although that is the goal for all students. some are not there yet.
Instilling the love of books in all kids, no matter what their individual reading level, is very important.
Students who are not reading on grade level tend to have less choice when selecting books from the library. The topics don't interest them.
Help me spark the love of reading in kids who need it most. Support my project so my struggling readers can become my successful readers.
