Expanding Our Library and Our Minds

Help me give my students a library filled with amazing books to read and interact with.

My Students

Our school is located in New York. I have students of all different nationalities as well as with all different learning needs.

My room is filled with an amazingly diverse group of students who are energetic, motivated, and all have a common love for learning.

Each student works hard in school, however many of them are left without help once they go home. Many of their parents work long hours, and many of these children leave school only to go to an after care program until the evening.

These children love to learn and especially love to read. They are creative, imaginative, and inspiring students who amaze me each and every day.

My Project

Who doesn't love losing themselves in a good book? No, not just a good book, but a GREAT book. One that you do not want to put down. That is what my students are looking for in our classroom library. Although I have been able to add some amazing new books to my library, I teach ELA to two classes of students. There are 52 students eagerly visiting my classroom library looking to borrow a book.

A great book makes all the difference.

Not only do I want my students to have amazing books to read independently, I want to have interesting books to add to our curriculum to further their understanding of the topics we are learning. My students come from families that are unable to buy them books and work long hours, so they are unable to bring their children to the public library. They love to read and learn, and I love inspiring them to do so. Let's mold these kids into life long readers.
