This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the most engaged and intelligent problem solvers. They are funny, witty, and creative. From book lovers to athletes to musicians and actors, I've had the pleasure to teach them all, some for 2 years now. This next year, many of my students will be taking their first AP course, and I will be teaching that AP course for the first time.
My students are driven and passionate about their education.
AP English Language and Composition is a challenge for many, but I know that they are ready. Unfortunately, the resources available to them currently are not going to help my students achieve their goals. My goal as their teacher is to give them the tools necessary to take on the challenge of AP. I would love for my students to become skilled in reading, writing, and communication.
My Project
My dream is to be the best teacher I can be for my students. This year, I took on a challenge of my own to make that happen--teaching a brand new course for my students: AP English Language and Composition. Currently, the textbook available for the course at our school is a 2014 copyrighted text. In the summer of 2019, College Board introduced a lot of new concepts. They also changed the way the exams are scored. These changes have led to the current textbook being deemed a bit obsolete. My hope is to raise funds to order a textbook that is appropriate for the course.
By funding this project, you will be providing my students an opportunity to not only succeed in a class, but to prepare themselves for college and their careers beyond that.
