My Project

Books have the power to transport students to new worlds and provide new perspectives, fostering empathy and critical thinking. I aim to provide these transformative experiences through three key books: They Call Me Guero by David Bowles, Don Quixote (abridged) by Miguel de Cervantes, and The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller.

They Call Me Guero offers a glimpse into the life of a Mexican-American boy, exploring themes of cultural identity and friendship.

Don Quixote, a classic tale of adventure, sparks the imagination. The Science of Breakable Things intertwines family, resilience, and the wonders of science, inspiring curiosity and critical thinking.

Access to these books is crucial for our students' development. It will enhance literacy skills, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. More importantly, these books will broaden perspectives, encouraging students to empathize with characters from diverse backgrounds and reflect on their own identities and aspirations.
